Hello my name is Dr. Mike Smith. I’m originally from the western New York area near Niagara Falls. It gets cold up there in the winter time so I learned how to play hockey, ride snowmobiles and become a black belt in karate. Bowling was also one of my favorite things to do when it was snowing outside. I was the #1 All American Bowler in the Buffalo, N.Y. high school district my senior year. In the spring and summertime when the weather gets nice, I liked running and racing go-karts as a kid. In my junior and senior years I was a National champion in karting.
All that fun and competitive activity as a young man helped guide me into my professional career as a Chiropractic Physician. One day, I lifted a heavy engine block and had terrible low back pain. Our next door neighbor was our family doctor and at first he recommended physical therapy and medication, but it really didn’t help that much. My first experience with chiropractic was great. I remember my father had to carry me into the chiropractic office but I walked out and got right back to my competitive activities.
After graduating high school I went to Niagara College to complete my premedical requirements. Then I chose Palmer University to attain my Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. Perhaps by no-coincidence I was born on Chiropractic founders Day September 18th. I first learned this at Palmer during an all-school assembly honoring the date 09/18/1895. I thought at first, “How Great, I get a day off on my Birthday.”! So, inspired, I went on to learn the art of Chiropractic and study very hard and achieved the D.D. Palmer Founder’s Scholarship for Academic excellence.
Some of my most interesting patients are Celebrities and Professional Race Car drivers. The results we’ve gotten have been incredible over the past 10 years. This was made possible with the latest computerized guided treatment technology and our access to the best Professional Drivers in the world. Even though these Professionals are at the “Top of Their Game”, we can make them perform better and win more consistently. It seems as if every time we provided treatment for these world class athletes, they win! Our average is over 90% win rate on race tracks throughout the United States and Europe. I believe that the treatment I provide for the drivers increases their reaction times, as this has already been proven scientifically in the literature.
I met the girl of my dreams at Palmer Chiropractic University. It’s been true love every since those graduate college days. Dr. Sylvia and I chose the Northwest region of Florida to practice our profession and raise our family because we were attracted by the beautiful water, beaches and genuinely warm and great people who live here. We have raised two very bright and amazing children, our daughter Michaela and our son, Race.
We feel we’ve been Blessed by God to provide the best of what our profession has for our patients and community.

I am Dr. Sylvia M. Smith. I was born in Heidelberg, Germany and grew up in Farmingville, New York and Milford, DE. My parents emigrated from Germany and I enjoy brushing up on my German when I can. After graduating from LaSalle University Philadelphia, PA 1981 with honors and a bachelor degree in biology and chemistry I moved back to Milford to work as a chemist at Dentsply International. After 3 years, I realized this was not how I wanted to spend my career and I discovered Chiropractic. In fact, my mother had had back surgery following years of low back pain. The surgery was unsuccessful and she continued to suffer until she sought relief through Dr. Lynn Walsh a chiropractor in our town of Milford. I had no concept of what a chiropractor did… in fact I told my mother that she should not go to a chiropractor even though he had helped her tremendously. She asked me why she should not go; I said, “I don’t know, you are just not supposed to go to one.”
Living in a small town and being athletic, I began playing in the men’s racquetball league and actually met her Doctor. He was nice and I became curious about his profession. I asked him what he did as a chiropractor and he said come to the office and I will show you. Following a thorough exam, he explained exactly what symptoms my M.D. had been treating with muscle relaxers, painkillers, and OTC meds. I had not even told him one problem I was having-he told me based on his exam findings! I was rather skeptical and this was impressive to me. He gave me an adjustment. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. While lying on the adjustment table following my first chiropractic adjustment, I decided that that was amazing and I MUST learn how to do this. I left for Palmer University of Davenport, Iowa within 3 months. What a blessing that has been. I got to save my liver and learn how to truly be healthy. I am passionate about helping patients with their health issues and improving their quality of life and health through Chiropractic treatment and philosophy. Chiropractic, which means, “done by hand” has been around since the days of Hippocrates. The chiropractic philosophy of your body’s ability to heal itself has never changed in over 100 years. Chiropractic Physicians are trained to treat interference of the nervous system and the accompanying joint and muscle dysfunction. In addition, I am very well versed in nutrition and exercise and love helping my patients realize the important benefits to their overall healthy lifestyle.
In 1987, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Palmer University in Davenport, Iowa. That is where I met my amazing husband, Dr. Michael J. Smith who is also a chiropractic physician. We married in 1987 and are thrilled to call Panama City Beach our home. We have practiced Chiropractic for over 25 years together and have two great young adult children. Our daughter is a freshman at FSU and our son is a Mosley High School student. Both of our children excel in academics, health and fitness. They were each adjusted for the first time within 1 hour of their birth and are excellent representatives for health through chiropractic.
Dr. Mike Smith is an avid racecar driver, fan, and along with Dr. Sylvia a treating physician for many of the top well known national and international racecar drivers and their team owners. The whole family shares this passion of racing and can be found at various racing events around the world.
As a Chiropractic Physician I have many areas of clinical expertise. I am well trained and experienced in extremity adjusting, spinal decompression for disc herniation’s and protrusions, spinal stenosis, facet changes and degenerative spinal changes, as well as posture and osteoporosis, nutrition and weight loss. We maintain a state of the art offices in which we offer Technologically advanced computerized treatment, laser therapy, specialized Digital Motion X-ray, Cybex rehabilitation, and many other modalities. I look forward to helping you and improving your health at Waterside Chiropractic.

Hello, my name is Dr. Natasha Kullas. I grew up in a small town in northern Ontario, Canada, and I decided to embrace the winter temperatures nearing the -40 degree mark and several meters of accumulated snowfall by taking up cross country skiing. I raced (more…)
I am Dr. Justin Turner. I was born in Birmingham, Alabama and lived just south in the city of Hoover, Alabama. I attended Hoover High School and was a member of the marching band. I was also actively playing basketball, baseball, and golf. It was actually a sports injury that introduced me to Chiropractic for the first time. My parents went to a Chiropractor regularly, and recommended I go since I was injured playing golf. I had severe chest pain after a golf swing that dropped me to my knees at the age of 17.
I started seeing the Chiropractor regularly, and was pain free soon after. He explained to me that I had subluxations in my spine and ribs. I always felt like I learned something new each time I would get adjusted. After a while I would start to talk with my Chiropractor about other issues I may have been having, whether it was allergies, headaches or fatigue. That was when I truly realized the wealth of knowledge he had about the human body and all of its systems. He made a major impact on me, which lead me to Chiropractic in the future.
I left Hoover to attend college at the University of North Alabama, in Florence. It was there that I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Biology. I chose to go to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida. That was the best decision I ever made. I became proficient in many adjusting techniques, such as: Diversified, Thompson, Flexion/Distraction, Gonstead, Activator, Pro-Adjustor, as well as extremity adjusting. Everything that I have learned in school and from other doctors of Chiropractic has made me incredibly passionate about healing the community.
I love our patients and I am very thankful for the opportunity to help them. I especially enjoy educating patients during their treatment. I explain to them why they are having pain, what has happened to their body, and what may have caused it. I have had several patients with shoulder, knee, ankle, or foot pain. Many people don’t know that a Chiropractor can treat every joint in their body. I feel that if we are better informed, we can better take care of ourselves in the future!
